DRUG STORAGE
The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) has a limited supply of free locking medication boxes. The closest one to us in Kings Park is the Sharon Bulova Center for Community Health, at 8221 Willow Oaks Corporate Drive, 1 West, Fairfax, VA 22031; 703-559-3000. This is offered as part of the statewide “Lock and Talk” initiative.

DRUG DISPOSAL
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, as well as local organizations, host “take-back” days, when residents can bring medicines to a designated site for proper disposal. More information. Fairfax County Policy stations and area pharmacies now provide permanent drug disposal dropboxes. Safe Disposal of Medicines (locations) | Health (fairfaxcounty.gov). Know the Risks – DropBox locations. The pharmacy in Safeway at Braddock and Twinbrook Road is the closest drop off location for Kings Park. You can also pick up drug disposal kits at Fairfax County Health Department offices and other drug disposal kit distribution locations.

  • Call the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) Entry & Referral line at 703-383-8500, M-F from 9-5pm to access behavioral health services, including substance use treatment services for youth and adults
  • Come in person, without prior appointment, to Entry & referral Services at the CSB’s Sharon Bulova Center, M-F from 9-5pm to be screened for services
  • CSB Emergency Services at 703-573-5679 or the Fairfax Detoxification Center at 703-502-7000 are available 24/7
  • CSB Peer Outreach Response Team (PORT) provides outreach, engagement and resource navigation to individuals who have serious opioid and other substance use challenges. If you or someone you know could benefit from PORT services, call 703-559-3199
  • Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) Substance Abuse Prevention Specialists (SAPS) are based in each high school and provide youth substance use prevention, education and intervention to all pyramid schools using a tiered approach. How to Access:
    • Parents/Guardians can call their child’s school front office staff or ask their counselor to connect to their school’s assigned SAPS
    • Contact the FCPS Office of Student Safety and Wellness:
  • Chris Atwood Foundation – peer-driven community organization in NoVA that provides free harm reduction and recovery support services and advocacy for people impacted by substance abuse. No ID is required for some services, including to become a member of the Comprehensive Harm Reduction (CHR) Program. Call/text 703-653-4221
  • Inova Kellar Center – Intensive Outpatient Program: Substance Related Disorders (IOP-SRD) – 10-12 week program for 13-18 year old adolescents who are experiencing difficulties with use/abuse/dependence of substances, engaging in high-risk behaviors, and/or are experiencing other addictive and maladaptive behaviors.   • Nar-Anon Family Groups – free mutual support group for family & friends of addicts. There is a group that meets at the United Methodist Church at 7047 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield, VA 22150; and there are also virtual meetings

  • Fairfax Prevention Coalition – partnership of parents, youth, schools, healthcare providers, government agencies, law enforcement, faith-based organizations, media, nonprofits, businesses, policymakers and volunteers, working together, to combat substance misuse in our community
    Addiction Medicine Clinic (AMC): Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is provided in an outpatient setting through the Community Services Board. Maintenance treatment like MAT helps to stabilize the recovery process, by using Food & Drug Administration-approved medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies to treat substance use disorders. AMC services are affordable, flexible, and available to Fairfax County resident adults
